Weekend Watch (Jan. 28-29, 2012)

NCAA Men’s Basketball – Saint Mary’s vs Brigham Young (Jan. 28, 9PM, ESPNU)
Saas-level : Chipotle Saas

The Gaels is looking like one of the best Mid-majors teams, especially at home, this season, but unfortunately they have to go into a hostile Marriott Center that holds 22,700 fans. For a West Coast team, that is a massive area, and something Saint Mary’s isn’t use to experiencing. If Saint Mary’s can do damage on the road during conference play against BYU and later Gonzaga, this team will have a solid seeding come March.

NCAA Men’s Basketball – West Virginia vs Syracuse (Jan. 28, 1PM, ESPNU)
Saas-level: Chipotle Saas , Hot Saas and Ole Gold Saas

Not every Mountaineer game I suggest to watch will be chipotle level (look at the loss Wednesday to St. John’s), but this has the potential to be an epic game. Syracuse, without Fab Melo, handed Cincinnati a solid home loss on Monday night, so they proved they can play without their big man sucking up space in the front court. With that being said, they haven’t faced Kevin Jones (Big East Player of the year at this point) with an angry Bob Huggins on the sideline. I don’t see WVU playing like they did against St. John’s again. Expect the Carrier Dome to be in shock Saturday afternoon.

NCAA Men’s Basketball – Mississippi State vs Florida (Jan. 28, 1:30pm, ESPN3)
Saas-level: Spaghetti Saas

The game is the only top 25 matchup on Saturday. That alone should make it worth something, but more importantly, these two teams have been the only ones in the SEC that have shown any potential to take down Kentucky’s reign. Florida’s back court is impressive, and Miss St.’s front court is on the same level. This will come down to which team’s weakness will step up and make some plays.

NCAA Men’s Basketball – Michigan vs Ohio State (Jan. 29, 1PM, CBS)
Saas-level: Spaghetti Saas

These two schools hate each other. It’s as simple as that. Plus each team has an outstanding guard with Michigan’s Burke and OSU’s Craft. And both have more than just bragging rights on the line: the loser’s chance of winning the Big Ten becomes a lot smaller with Michigan State playing well.  Expect a brawl.

Golf - Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship (Jan 27, 4am and Jan 28, 4am, Golf Channel)
Saas-level: Gravy Saas

For those insomniacs out there, Tiger Woods is playing well. He’s only two shots off the lead. McIroy is in the hunt too. For the golf purest, Garcia and Harrington are in the top half of the leader board.

Tennis – Australian Open Men’s Final: Nadal vs Djokovic (Jan 29, 3am, ESPN2)
Saas-level: Spaghetti Saas

If golf isn’t for you, insomniac, there is the Nadal/Djokovic rematch, which I promise will have more action to keep your attention.
Tsaasify Nod: Djokovic

NFL – Pro Bowl (Jan 29, 7pm, NBC)
Saas-level: Gravy Saas

If you have nothing else to do Sunday evening there is the Pro Bowl. I only recommend this because it is still football, even if it is just grown men casually tossing the pigskin. If you have something else to do or you have some shows on your DVR that you need to catch-up, it will be better time spent.
